Dē modīs verbōrum et participiīs.

Porsenna, rēx Etrūscōrum, cum Iāniculum cēpisset [capere], virtūte Horātiī Coclitis prohibitus [prohibēre] est nē Tiberim trānsīret [trānsīre].

Quī, cum aliīs imperāvisset [imperāre] ut pontem rescinderent [rescindere], ipse prō ponte stāns [stāre] sōlus Etrūscōs sustinuit [sustinēre], et ponte ruptō [rumpere] in flūmen sē mīsit [mittere], ut ad suōs natāret [natāre]. Ob hoc factum statua eī in Comitiō posita [pōnere] est.

Cum Porsenna rēx urbem obsidēret [obsidēre], C. Mūcius senātum adiit [adīre] et patribus pollicitus [pollicērī] est 'sē rēgem occīsūrum [occīdere] esse'.

Cum ad hostēs trānsfūgisset [trānsfugere] et in castra rēgis intrāvisset [intrāre], ut prōmissum solveret [solvere], alium virum prō rēge occīdit [occīdere].

Ā cūstōdibus apprehēnsus [apprehendere] et ad rēgem tractus [trahere] dextram ignī impositam [impōnere] exussit [exūrere]; ita manum pūnīvit [pūnīre] quae (: cum) in caede peccāvisset [peccāre].

Hāc virī cōnstantiā rēx ita permōtus [permovēre] est ut Mūcium līberāret [līberāre] et lēgātōs Rōmam mitteret [mittere] quī (: ut) pācem compōnerent [compōnere]. Patrēs Mūciō virtūtis causā trāns Tiberim agrum dedērunt [dare].
